Mentoring experiences, Personal growth, Up-skilling and Fun: these were the highlights of the two months Internship Programme at Pay1. Starting from April, Pay1 hosted 7 interns from 3 different Tier-1 B-Schools across India. During their tenure at Pay1, they not only learned about executing marketing campaigns, writing blogs, forecasting financials etc., but also worked on the projects of their choice.
We had a quick chat with Karan Kumar (NMIMS, Bangalore), Mitriyon Das (NMIMS, Bangalore), Shikha Bangeria (IIM Shillong) and Simani Singh (IIM Shillong), to learn about their experience at Pay1 during their 2 month term.
Which department did you work with and what all were your key responsibilities?
Mitriyon: I worked with the Finance team and I mainly focused on the core finance stuff like product wise projections and working on feasibility of the upcoming products.
Simani: I was part of the Marketing Team. Initially, I was engaged with handling of blogs and content for social media. Thereafter, I was asked to do some market research for preparation and analysis of reports to understand the ups and down in the business.
What motivated you to apply for internship at Pay1?
Karan: Being a finance student, I was looking forward to intern at a startup where I could get an opportunity to learn about financial strategies of a growing firm and Pay1 offered me the same.
Mitriyon: I had always wanted to experience the fast paced developments which take place at a Startup. Also, I wished to develop a different set of skills, ranging from Finance to Marketing to Product Management. Pay1’s Internship promised me all these experiences, so I applied for it.
Shikha: I was very keen and enthusiastic to learn about the Digital Marketing strategies and campaigns and when my Placement Committee informed me about a similar opportunity being offered at Pay1, I applied for it.
Each intern was allotted a mentor. What was the best part of working with your mentor or team?
Karan: The best part about my role was that I was actually working with him simultaneously on various projects. The finance team had great bonding and the work culture at Pay1 was such that you always felt wanted.
Simani: My mentor was an experienced marketing professional and I tried to grasp as much as I could in these two months. He was always available for solving my queries, whether small or big. The Pay1 marketing team was quite dynamic and with their help, I was able to get out of my comfort zone and explore new age marketing tools like CleverTap.
